DUTCH APPROACH is providing Dutch language courses for adults in Asia and in the Netherlands. We provide classroom courses (currently in Taiwan and from 2023 in Japan, Singapore and the Netherlands) and online courses. All our teachers are native Dutch speakers with a solid teaching background.
How it all started
To accommodate Dutch language classes for the children of the Dutch community in Taiwan, the Nederlandse School Taipei was established in 1989. Although the school’s core purpose is to teach the Dutch language to children, the board of the school launched a pilot language course for non-Dutch speaking parents. This pilot was very successful. More advanced courses were organised. These Dutch language courses became overtime increasingly popular.
Especially Taiwanese exchange students preparing for their adventure in the Netherlands and Belgium enrolled for the courses. In order to keep the quality of the course high, the board of the school decided to have these courses organised independently from Nederlandse School Taipei. In May 2020 the new entity to promote the Dutch Language in Taiwan was founded: DUTCH APPROACH!
DUTCH APPROACH today
During the first year DUTCH APPROACH expanded within Taiwan; first to Kaohsiung, followed by Taichung, Tainan and Hsinchu. The COVID-19 pandemic forced us during the summer of 2021 to change our format: our classroom courses became online courses! Despite the pandemic the demand was still increasing. As online courses became eventually one of our most popular courses, not only attracting Taiwanese students, we have an increase of Japanese and Singaporean students.
Also the Taiwanese community in the Netherlands did find our online courses. This has led to establish classroom courses in Eindhoven, Amsterdam and Den Haag since 2022. For the year 2023 we plan to establish classroom courses in Korea (Incheon and Seoul), Singapore, Japan (Tokyo), Hong Kong and Malaysia.
At DUTCH APPROACH we provide Dutch language courses from ‘Beginner’ to ‘Proficiency’ level, and any level in between. In addition we also provide an exam preparation course for the ‘Basisexamen Inburgering‘ (Civic Integration Exam). All our courses we teach in small groups of 4 to 8 students (for online courses we have a maximum of 6 students).
